Academy Introduction Mission

The Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) is a one-week summer program where you'll immerse yourself in Academy life. Exclusively for students entering their senior year of high school, AIM is regarded as the most realistic of the service academy summer orientation programs.

AIM will test and inspire you. It will push you to your limits. You'll rise early. You'll study. You'll compete. For six non-stop days, you'll test your mind, body and spirit in every way.

Intense, yet rewarding, AIM will help you to discover whether the Academy experience is truly what you want from college, and whether you have what it takes to succeed.

Now open to Sea Scouts

Annually, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) offers a unique opportunity for select students who have successfully completed their junior year of high school to experience a weeklong Academy Introduction Mission (AIM) summer program. As the US Coast Guard Auxiliary’s national youth leadership program, the Sea Scouts have an opportunity to nominate up to ten (10) Sea Scouts who have completed their junior year in high school for priority consideration by USCGA’s Admissions Office. Sea Scouts interested in seeking appointment as a Cadet at USCGA, or interested in pursuing a Coast Guard career, are highly encouraged to apply.

USCGA’s AIM application must be submitted directly to USCGA following their selection guidelines.

Sea Scouts who apply to AIM should also complete the Sea Scout supplemental application and submit it to [email protected] no later than 15 April 2021 for consideration as a nominee of Sea Scouts, BSA. Questions regarding the Sea Scout – USCGA AIM application can be sent to [email protected].
