Sea Scout-related training for all audiences

• 211 - BSA Youth Protection (YPT) Training (This workshop must be taken by all Auxiliarists and adults working directly with Sea Scout youth)
• 212 - Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training (Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training is the first step in training for all Sea Scout leaders focusing on the skills and attributes necessary to be an effective advisor in the Ship’s deliverance of service to youth in your specific geographic location. It is intended primarily to enhance individual knowledge of and connectivity with the strategic plan, program and resources while emphasizing personal skills necessary for the development of youth in the Sea Scout program.)
  • To take this training, log into my.scouting.org;
  • On the home screen, pull down the Menu in the upper left corner and select My Training;
  • On the My Training page, click the Training Center link that appears towards the top of the page in the center;
  • On the Training Courses by Program page, click the Sea Scouts link;
  • On the Sea ScoutingLearning Plans - Select your Positions page, select the Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training course.
• 213 - Seabadge (Seabadge is intense leadership and management training focused on the “how-to” aspects of managing a successful youth-led Sea Scout program. While Seabadge was developed as an advanced leadership training program for experienced Sea Scout adult leaders the course is open to all adult Scout leaders. The driving theme for the training is to “Focus on Youth”, which makes the course especially valuable for any Scout leader dealing with older youth. Seabadge does not cover topics like boating, knots, or other program-related materials found in the Sea Scout Manual.)
• 221 - BSA Safe Swim Defense Training (BSA groups use Safe Swim Defense for all swimming activities. Adult leaders supervising a swimming activity must have completed Safe Swim Defense training within the previous two years.)

Adult leaders supervising activities afloat must have completed Safety Afloat training within the previous two years. Safety Afloat standards apply to the use of canoes, kayaks, rowboats, rafts, floating tubes, sailboats, motorboats (including waterskiing), and other small craft.)

AUXSCOUT All-Hands Staff Forums

Quarterly forums are held to provide up-to-date news for all Youth Programs team members, including national staff and AUXSCOUT staff officers at the district, division, and flotilla levels. Forums are held on the second Sundays of January, April, July, and October unless otherwise announced. The next forum will be held on April 10th, 2022 at 2030 eastern. Team members are encouraged to submit questions ahead to Bruce Johnson, Youth Programs Division Chief. Recordings of the forums are posted here.

Coast Guard Auxiliary - Sea Scout Training Crosswalk

Youth Programs has compared the available Coast Guard Auxiliary training to Sea Scout advancement requirements and has developed a crosswalk between the two. All Auxiliary courses that provide relevant training are identified and mapped to Sea Scout advancement requirements. This makes it easy to locate high-quality training that teaches Sea Scout skills, which is useful both for Auxiliary instructors and for Sea Scouts.
