Follow these steps
- Attend the An introduction to Sea Scouts (33:40) workshop
- Read the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
- Appoint a District Staff Officer - Auxscout; see the DSO-AS job description
- Notify Youth Programs Division Chief of the DSO assignment
- Become thoroughly familiar with AuxBWiki and the Sea Scouts BSA website
- Take the BSA YPT and Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training courses
- Contact the Territory Commodore(s) to identify Sea Scout counterparts; ask for names and contact information for Council Commodores in your AOR
- Identify local Ships in the district’s AOR using the Flotilla-Ship map
- Reach out to your Youth Programs Branch Chief for your district
- Atlantic East – Arnie Geller
- Atlantic West – Patrick Hickey
- Pacific – John-Michael Zimmerle
- Develop a District AUXSCOUT strategic plan for 2019-20; communicate it to the district leadership as well as the Youth Program’s Branch Chief for your district
- Submit monthly reports to the District Chief of Staff, the Youth Programs Division Chief, and the Sea Scout Regional Commodore
