What should my district be doing to get started?

Follow these steps

1. Attend the 102 - Introduction to AUXSCOUT - What is it? How do we implement it? workshop
2. Read the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
3. Appoint a DSO for Sea Scouts; see AuxBWiki for a job description and information on organizational support
   • Notify Youth Programs Division Chief of the DSO assignment
4. Become thoroughly familiar with AuxBWiki and the Sea Scouts BSA website
5. Take the BSA YPT and Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training courses
6. Contact Sea Scout Regional Commodore to identify Sea Scout counterparts; ask for names and contact information for the Area and Council Commodores in your AOR
   • Northeast Region – Ben Feril
   • Central Region – Curt Ware
   • Western Region – Greg Harden
   • Southern Region – Tom McMullen
7. Identify local Ships in the district’s AOR using the Flotilla-Ship map
8. Reach out to your Youth Programs Branch Chief for your district
   • Atlantic East – Robin Pope
   • Atlantic West – Bill Reisa
   • Pacific – Mike Bozarth
9. Develop a District AUXSCOUT strategic plan for 2019-20; communicate it to the district leadership as well as the Youth Program’s Branch Chief for your district
   • Sample available
10. Submit monthly reports to the Youth Programs Division Chief and the Sea Scout Regional Commodore
    • Provide sample report
