Sea Scouts attending Coast Guard Auxiliary training
The Coast Guard Auxiliary offers a wide range of boater education courses (referred to as Public Education within the Auxiliary) to the general public. Coast Guard Auxiliary boater education is particularly well suited for Sea Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturers. For Scouts BSA who are planning a trip to the Florida Sea Base, taking a Sailing Skills and Seamanship course beforehand should be a must. They arrive in Florida well prepared to have a great time running the boat. Sea Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturers participating in a canoe trek at the Charles L. Sommers Canoe Base or a river closer to home should include the Paddlesports America as a part of their trip preparation. And Sea Scouts will want to participate in any of the following that best meets their needs: About Boating Safely, Boating Skills and Seamanship, or Sailing Skills and Seamanship.
